Snapplings — press kit

Updated 23 September 2026 · everything on this page may be quoted and republished

One line

Point your phone at anything and AI turns it into a collectible creature. Every day, everyone snaps the same object and you can see what it became for all of them.

Boilerplate. Snapplings is a free camera game from solo developer David Perkins. Photograph a real object — a mug, a shoe, your dog — and AI invents a one-of-a-kind creature from it, with original art, a name, a type, stats and lore. The Daily Object gives the whole community one thing to photograph each day; every version goes on a public wall, players vote, and the winner is crowned at midnight. Playable in any phone browser at snapplings.com, on the App Store, and on Google Play.

The Daily Object, in a paragraph

Every day at midnight ET the game picks one thing everyone has within reach — a mug, a shoe, a jar, your pet. Every player photographs their version, AI turns each photo into a different creature, and they all go on a single public wall, best first. Players vote through the day; at midnight the winner is crowned Best of the Day and its card carries the crown forever. Catch it daily and you build an Object Streak. Today’s wall is at snapplings.com/daily; every past day is at snapplings.com/daily/archive.

Story angles

  • Same jar, fourteen creatures: a daily ritual where the whole community photographs one object and sees every version side by side.
  • One person built it, including the AI pipeline, and runs the daily community by hand from a kitchen in Connecticut.
  • AI art with a rule: every creature is painted from scratch, never a filter over the photo, and the photo is thrown away.
  • What would YOUR mug become? The prompt is the content — it works as a headline, a how-to, or a challenge.
  • The public archive: every day since launch has its own page with the object, the count and the crowned creature.

Assets

Right-click to save. All creature art is AI-generated and free to reproduce in coverage of Snapplings.

About the developer

David Perkins is an engineer with a broadcast-technology background, now making apps in Middlefield, Connecticut. He builds and runs Snapplings alone — design, code, the AI pipeline, the daily object, the social posts — under his studio ClarityIP LLC. Snapplings started as a question over a coffee mug: what would this look like as a creature?

Contact

hello@clarityipbroadcast.com — David answers personally, usually the same day. Happy to make a creature from any photo you send for a story, or to talk through how the pipeline works.
